Boundary Condition Inc.
Boundary Condition Inc. is a new venture incubator and accelerator based on Vancouver Island. Our purpose is to turn Canadian insight, talent, and difficult problems into ambitious companies—and to widen the map of where those companies can begin.
Why we exist
Capability is widely distributed. Access to the conditions that turn capability into a durable company is not.
Canada has exceptional builders, scientists, engineers, operators, researchers, clinicians, tradespeople, and domain experts. The missing ingredient is often not talent; it is a dense path to co-founders, customers, experienced operators, capital, and the mechanics of building a venture.
We want to create that path, especially for rural and remote founders, people without traditional investor access, domain experts becoming first-time founders, immigrants and internationally experienced founders, Indigenous entrepreneurs, underserved communities, and people balancing work, caregiving, disability, or geography.
This is not a charitable frame or a lower standard. It is a venture thesis: conventional networks can mistake visibility for potential and proximity for quality. Boundary Condition intends to hold the same commercial ambition while searching more widely and designing access more deliberately.
And we are deliberate about who we gather. We want founders, operators, and partners who are passionate about bettering the world—people who measure success in customers served and problems genuinely solved, not only in exits. Idealism and ambition are not opposites here; the companies we most want to help build run on both.
Economic resilience
Many Canadian communities were built around forestry, mining, fishing, agriculture, energy, manufacturing, or another anchor industry. When a mill, plant, or major employer closes, the impact reveals the risk of economic concentration—not a shortage of capable people.
We want to help founders create parallel technology, cleantech, greentech, applied-science, and advanced-industry economies that diversify customers, employers, ownership, and skilled work.
Place-led development
The strongest opportunities may begin with local industry knowledge, infrastructure, research, natural systems, or a problem experienced firsthand. The goal is not to import a generic startup scene; it is to help locally rooted founders build companies capable of serving much larger markets.
Indigenous economic development must be Indigenous-led. Boundary Condition seeks to be useful when invited, work through appropriate relationships, respect community priorities and ownership, and co-design rather than prescribe. We claim no partnership until it is real and announced with consent.
What we are building
Incubation establishes the evidence, product, team, and venture mechanics. Acceleration follows when a company is ready to compress progress toward customers, repeatability, and capital.
